New York Fashion Week

According to Wikipedia, New York Fashion Week dates its lineage back to a series of events called Press Week, founded in 1943. It took on its modern format in 1993, but (in the words of Wikipedia) "cities like London were already using their city's name in conjunction with the words fashion week in the 1980s."

Wikipedia speaks of a 'big four' fashion weeks: London, Milan, Paris and New York. It's probably fair to describe New York as the oldest of the four, even though it seems to have fallen in line with the format and name of the other three at a later date.
